Get a Sneak Peek of ‘Godzilla Minus Zero’ with Director Takashi Yamazaki at CinemaCon
GKIDS will launch this year’s CinemaCon with a highly anticipated preview of Godzilla Minus Zero. Director Takashi Yamazaki, who won the 2023 Academy Award for Best Visual Effects for Godzilla Minus One, will make his first appearance at the event to present the film.
The distributor was acquired by Toho in 2024.
“We are longtime champions of the importance of the shared theatrical experience,” remarked Jesteadt, GKIDS president. “We believe there’s no better place to kick off Yamazaki-san’s Godzilla Minus Zero than at CinemaCon with the folks who present that movie magic on the big screen: the cinema owners.”

Toho will release Godzilla Minus Zero theatrically in Japan on November 3, with GKIDS planning a wider release throughout North America beginning November 6. The previous installment, Godzilla Minus One, debuted in the United States with a box office of $11.4 million and ultimately grossed over $57 million domestically. A remastered black-and-white version was screened for one week in late January 2024 in the U.S. after an earlier run in Japan.
November 3 is historically significant as it marks the anniversary of the original Godzilla film’s theatrical release in 1954.
Yamazaki returns to the Godzilla franchise as director, screenwriter, and head of visual effects. The film is currently in production and is being produced by Toho Studios and Rotob, with visual effects handled by Shirogumi Inc.
CinemaCon will take place from April 13 to 16 at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.
