Clooney Responds to White House Retort Following War Crime Allegation
Two-time Oscar winner George Clooney has addressed a sharp statement from the White House after he publicly accused President Donald Trump of committing a war crime. This accusation came in the wake of Trump’s threatening remarks regarding Iran, where he warned that "a whole civilization will die tonight."
In response, White House Communications Director Steven Cheung issued a statement to The Independent, saying, “The only person committing war crimes is George Clooney for his awful movies and terrible acting ability.”
Clooney’s remarks were made during a speech to high school students in Italy, where he expressed his outrage over the President’s statements.
Clooney’s film credentials are notable; he won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor in 2006 for his role in Syriana and received the Oscar for Best Picture as a producer of Argo in 2016. Throughout his career, he has garnered eight nominations.
