Garcelle Beauvais Reveals Her Fun Post-Emmy Plans: Swapping the Dress for a Burger
Emmys Showcase Thriving at 50+ Through Health Awareness Campaign
The 77th Emmy Awards not only celebrated the achievements of Hollywood’s elite but also highlighted the importance of wellness during life’s later stages. At the Emmys Governors Gala, GSK’s THRIVE@50+ campaign honored notable actors over the age of 50, emphasizing their journeys, resilience, and the insights that shaped their careers. The initiative also aimed to educate older adults about the potential impact of shingles on significant life moments.
The campaign promotes a vital message: being proactive about health is as essential as embracing one’s age. It raises awareness about shingles, a condition affecting an estimated 99 percent of adults over 50, many of whom carry the virus without ever developing symptoms.
By sharing powerful narratives and featuring celebrity advocates, the initiative encourages adults aged 50 and older to embrace their age confidently and take steps to safeguard their health. Actress and producer Garcelle Beauvais expressed her enthusiastic support for the campaign, stating, “The messaging is right on—not only for me, but for my family and for my friends over 50. Being over 50, you are at risk for shingles, and I just think that it’s a great campaign. It’s about living your best life, but at the same time, helping you understand your risk of shingles.”
Beauvais elaborated on the essence of thriving, saying, “It means living your best life—to wake up in the morning, and are excited about what’s ahead for the day. I think it’s all about we’re living longer, we need more joy in our lives. Any time you can thrive and help other people feel good, why wouldn’t you?”
As the awards night unfolded, she looked forward to the celebrations, humorously noting the importance of hydration while preparing for such a glamorous event. “Definitely hydrate, but don’t hydrate too much! Once you put on the dress, you may not be able to go to the bathroom, like me today,” she quipped.
Overall, the THRIVE@50+ campaign underscored the importance of health awareness for older adults in a vibrant, celebratory environment, urging them to not only thrive but also to shine on and off the screen.
