Galaxy Falls to Colorado Following Gabriel Pec’s Red Card
Commerce City, Colo. — Alexis Manyoma scored the decisive goal in the second half, and Rafael Navarro added two more, leading the Colorado Rapids to a commanding 4-1 victory over the LA Galaxy on Saturday night. The Galaxy played the match with ten men following a key dismissal, impacting their performance significantly.
João Klauss equalized for the Galaxy with his fourth goal in three matches, scoring in the 56th minute to bring the game to 1-1. However, just four minutes later, Gabriel Pec received a second yellow card, forcing his exit from the match after being shown a red card.
Manyoma, making his fifth career appearance and second this season, subbed into the match in the 68th minute. He scored his first career goal in the 76th minute, putting Colorado ahead 2-1. Navarro secured the win with an unassisted goal in the 85th minute and followed up with another score four minutes later, assisted by Wayne Frederick, marking Frederick’s first assist in 13 career appearances.
Navarro’s tally brought his career goals with the Rapids to 30 in 78 appearances. In his first start for Colorado this season, Nico Hansen recorded four saves, showing solid form after starting ten times as a rookie last season. Novak Micovic, in his third start of the season for the Galaxy, made two saves.
Darren Yapi contributed to Colorado’s early lead with a goal in the 23rd minute and an assist on Manyoma’s goal. Despite the loss, the Galaxy maintain a historical edge over the Rapids, leading the all-time series 41-34-13, though their record in Colorado now stands at 14-23-7.
