On Friday, the City Section saw a series of competitive high school basketball games, showcasing both boys’ and girls’ teams across multiple matchups.
Boys’ Results:
Amit secured a convincing win against Valor Academy with a score of 59 to 41. Angelou triumphed over Manual Arts, finishing at 63 to 25. In other notable games, Animo Robinson defeated Jefferson 61 to 48, while Bernstein edged past Hollywood with a final score of 79 to 59.
Birmingham showcased their strength with a 73 to 40 victory against El Camino Real, and Carson narrowly defeated Gardena 50 to 49. In a closely contested match, Lake Balboa College Prep triumphed over MSAR with a score of 43 to 42.
Match cancellations were also noted, such as the game between LA Jordan and Fremont. The night concluded with Washington Prep achieving an impressive 99 to 65 victory over King/Drew.
Girls’ Results:
In the girls’ division, Amit dominated Valor Academy, winning decisively 43 to 13. LACES defeated Fairfax by a significant margin, closing at 51 to 20. The battle between Granada Hills and Chatsworth ended with Granada Hills taking the win, scoring 63 to 26.
King/Drew emerged strongly against Washington Prep, prevailing 78 to 29, and North Hollywood delivered a resounding victory over Monroe, finishing 75 to 10.
Among notable forfeits, Esperanza College Prep advanced over Simon Tech, while Harbor Teacher won by forfeit against Locke.
These results reflect a dynamic night of basketball, with teams displaying their skills and determination in front of enthusiastic crowds.
