Southern Section Baseball Highlights
In a series of dominant performances, several high school baseball teams showcased their skills in Friday’s matches. AAE overwhelmed Silver Valley with a decisive 14-0 victory, while Arcadia kept Pasadena scoreless, ending the game 5-0. Other notable outcomes included Banning’s 9-0 win over Desert Hot Springs and Ayala’s 9-2 triumph against Glendora.
Baldwin Park edged Duarte in a nail-biter, finishing with a final score of 6-5. Camarillo secured a solid 4-2 win against Moorpark, while El Segundo featured a spectacular performance, clinching a 21-2 victory against South Torrance.
Capistrano Valley defeated El Toro by a narrow margin of 5-4, and Downey Calvary Chapel excelled against Fairmont Prep with a commanding 15-1 scoreline. Meanwhile, Los Alamitos earned a 2-0 win over Marina, and Palos Verdes emerged victorious with a 6-1 score against West Torrance.
Southern Section Softball Highlights
In softball, several teams also delivered impressive performances. Bolsa Grande triumphed over Westminster La Quinta with a 15-8 score, and Cathedral City dominated Desert Mirage, winning 25-7. Nogales showcased their resilience by winning against Baldwin Park with a final score of 19-7, while Orange Lutheran convincingly defeated Mater Dei 11-1.
San Marino achieved an outstanding 19-0 victory against Immaculate Heart, and South Torrance claimed a commanding 15-1 win against Bishop Montgomery. Notably, Villa Park secured a decisive win over Don Lugo, finishing the game at 12-2.
As the season progresses, these results highlight the competitive landscape of high school sports, with teams vying for top positions in both baseball and softball leagues.
