Freshman Golfer William Hudson from St. John Bosco Takes Home Victory at Servite Invitational
William Hudson Wins Servite Invitational Golf Tournament
William Hudson, a 14-year-old freshman golfer, made headlines on Monday after shooting a remarkable 71 at Western Hills Country Club in Chino Hills, earning him the title at the Servite Invitational. This victory is believed to mark the first time a student from St. John Bosco has claimed an invitational championship.
“It was very important to me and my school,” Hudson remarked, expressing pride in his achievement.
An exceptional student, Hudson maintains a rigorous schedule, practicing golf daily at 6 a.m. before attending classes. In addition to his athletic commitments, he participates in an entrepreneurship program that allows him to take courses at a junior college, earning college credits in the process. “They are long days, but I get through it,” he reflected on his demanding routine.
Golf runs in Hudson’s family; his great-grandfather was an avid golfer who played until he passed away at the age of 98 last year. “I love how it can take me to interesting places and meet interesting people,” Hudson said. “I can play for the rest of my life. It’s a lifelong sport.”
This year appears promising for Southern California golfers, with several returning individual champions, including Jaden Soong of St. Francis and Grant Leary of Crespi. With his recent success, Hudson has positioned himself among the region’s competitive youth golfers.
