Fontana Police Involved in Fatal Shooting After Vehicle Collision with Multiple Patrol Cars
Fontana Police Shoot and Kill Suspected Narcotics Trafficker
A man suspected of narcotics trafficking was shot and killed by Fontana police during an attempted arrest on Wednesday. The incident occurred around 1:35 p.m. in a parking lot located in the 17100 block of Foothill Boulevard.
Authorities indicated that officers attempted to detain the man, who was wanted in connection with the sale and trafficking of a significant quantity of narcotics, primarily fentanyl. During this effort, the suspect allegedly rammed his vehicle into several police cars as well as a civilian vehicle, prompting the use of lethal force by officers.
Following the shooting, the suspect was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His identity has not been disclosed by the police. Fortunately, no officers sustained injuries during the confrontation.
In line with standard procedure, the Fontana Police Department will undertake an internal administrative review of the incident. The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department has been designated as the lead agency for the ongoing investigation.
