In a shocking incident on Sunday, shots were fired at the Los Angeles home of Grammy-winning singer Rihanna and hip-hop star A$AP Rocky, where they were with their three children. The Los Angeles Police Department has charged 35-year-old Ivanna Ortiz in connection with the shooting.

According to police reports, Ortiz was arrested after multiple rounds, allegedly fired from an AR-15-style rifle, struck both a gate and an Airstream trailer in the driveway of the couple’s Beverly Crest residence. Witnesses observed a Tesla driving erratically outside the home shortly before the gunfire erupted around 1:30 p.m.

Ortiz faces serious charges, including attempted murder, intentional discharge of a firearm, and assault with a semiautomatic weapon. Her arraignment was scheduled for Tuesday in downtown Los Angeles, where prosecutors are expected to provide further details about the case.

While inside the home during the shooting, Rihanna, A$AP Rocky, and their three children were unharmed. Along with the couple, two other individuals were present at the time, according to police. The LAPD confirmed that Ortiz was apprehended approximately three miles away during a traffic stop in Sherman Oaks, where she was found with a 30-round magazine.

The possession of large-capacity magazines is heavily regulated in California, with laws tightening further after the passage of Proposition 63 in 2016. Ortiz is currently being held on a $10 million bond.

According to police, between seven to nine rounds were fired at the residence, with visible damage noted on the property’s front gate and the trailer parked in the driveway. The incident underscores ongoing concerns regarding firearm regulations in the region.

Ortiz also has a prior history with law enforcement in Florida, having been arrested for domestic violence battery earlier this year. Details regarding a possible motive for the shooting remain unclear.
