Florida Film Festival Unveils Lineup for Its 35th Edition
The Florida Film Festival (FFF) has unveiled an exciting slate for its 35th edition, featuring two dozen world premieres and two special events titled "An Evening With…" showcasing notable talents such as Paul Giamatti and Judge Reinhold.
Scheduled to take place from April 10 to 19 in Central Florida, the festival will commence with Adam Carter Rehmeier’s Carolina, Caroline, which stars Samara Weaving and Kyra Sedgwick. The centerpiece screening will feature Over Your Dead Body, a comedic action film directed by Jorma Taccone, starring Jason Segel, Nikolai Kinski, and Kayla Radomski. To conclude the event, Hitchcock’s classic Strangers on a Train will celebrate its 75th anniversary.
Overall, the festival will present 161 films from across the globe. Among the world premieres are Ahmed Bouchalga’s The Call, Costa Karalis’ Frogtown, Woodruff Laputka and Tehben Dean’s The Man Whom the Trees Loved, Randy Moore’s Return From Tomorrow, Paul Oh’s Correspondence, and Jessica Li’s Peace Corps.
Noteworthy selections include Steven Soderbergh’s The Christophers, Gregg Araki’s I Want Your Sex, Maude Apatow’s Poetic License, Alysa Nahmias’ Cookie Queens, and Daniel Roher’s debut narrative film Tuner.
The documentary slate highlights Seized, directed by Sharon Leise; David Anthony Ngo’s Never Get Busted; Tasha Van Zandt’s A Life Illuminated; and Patrick Xavier Bresnan’s First They Came for My College.
FFF Executive Director Wade Neal expressed enthusiasm for this year’s festival, stating, "I’m thrilled to be part of a team that has made the festival one of the most exciting, well-curated, and outrageously fun in the country for 35 years." He further emphasized the festival’s commitment to honoring filmmakers and their work.
Matthew Curtis, FFF Programming Director, expressed excitement about the lineup, stating, "This year’s program will be one of the strongest we’ve ever done. Storytellers from around the world will showcase their films during our 10-day celebration, with many making their Florida premiere alongside world debuts."
The festival promises a vibrant experience for film lovers with a diverse selection of works, from up-and-coming talents to established filmmakers.
