Disneyland Employees Hospitalized After Hazardous Materials Incident
At least five Disneyland employees were hospitalized on Tuesday due to a hazardous materials situation reported in a backstage area of the theme park, the Anaheim Fire Department confirmed.
Emergency responders were alerted around 12:30 p.m. following reports of an unknown odor at the "Star Tours" attraction in Tomorrowland. Fire department officials quickly arrived on the scene to investigate the source of the smell.
By approximately 1:20 p.m., Anaheim Police Department Sgt. Matt Sutter reported that four employees, who exhibited symptoms including dizziness and shortness of breath, were transported to a local hospital for treatment.
According to Disneyland officials, materials being utilized by a contractor triggered a reaction backstage. In response to the situation, nearby areas open to guests were temporarily closed and evacuated, though Disneyland announced around 2:10 p.m. that these sections would soon reopen.
In addition to those hospitalized, several cast members received on-site treatment from paramedics and were subsequently released.
