HERMOSA BEACH, Calif. – An early morning fishing trip quickly transformed into a jaw-dropping spectacle when an experienced angler hooked a seven-foot great white shark at the Hermosa Beach Pier. The encounter, captured on video, highlights a notable increase in shark activity along the Southern California coast.

The fisherman was initially targeting mackerel when he unexpectedly caught the apex predator. Thanks to prompt assistance from nearby lifeguards, the shark was unhooked and safely returned to the ocean. Experts indicate that warmer water temperatures may be drawing juvenile sharks closer to popular shorelines, evidenced by similar sightings in recent weeks.

Witnesses described the scene as reminiscent of a thriller film. The fisherman, familiar with species like leopard and horn sharks, acknowledged the encounter as particularly intense.
