First Look at ‘Evil Dead Burn’: Family Ties and Horror Highlights from CinemaCon
Warner Bros. Releases Trailer for Evil Dead Burn
Warner Bros. has debuted the first trailer for Evil Dead Burn, the newest installment in the iconic horror franchise The Evil Dead. The trailer, revealed during a panel at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, hints at a chilling exploration of family dynamics intertwined with horror.
The film’s storyline remains largely under wraps; however, the trailer features elements typical of the series, including scenes of the undead, chainsaws, and graphic violence. Among the highlighted phrases are a poignant statement, "My sweet boy, I would give anything for us to be together again," contrasted with the darkly humorous, "Cheers to you, perfect family."
Patton Oswalt, who hosted the presentation, noted that the trailer provides “a very early look at the trailer with unfinished and rough shots," and emphasized that the filmmakers have added an "extra disturbing" quality to the film.
Scheduled for release on July 24, Evil Dead Burn is directed by Sébastien Vaniček, known for his work on the Cannes-premiering film Infested. The cast includes Souheila Yacoub, Hunter Doohan, and Luciane Buchanan.
This upcoming film follows Evil Dead Rise, directed by Lee Cronin, which initially intended for HBO Max, made a successful leap to theaters in 2023, grossing an estimated $147 million worldwide. The sequel was co-financed by New Line Cinema and Sony Pictures, with Rob Tapert and Sam Raimi returning as producers.
Warner Bros. will handle North American distribution of Evil Dead Burn, while StudioCanal will distribute it in the UK and Metropolitan in France, with Sony overseeing other international markets.
Created by Sam Raimi, The Evil Dead franchise launched in 1981 with the original film featuring Bruce Campbell as Ash Williams, who battles supernatural forces. This enduring series has since expanded into a trilogy and has inspired the Starz television series Ash vs. Evil Dead, along with various related projects.
In addition to Evil Dead Burn, there is another upcoming film titled Evil Dead Wrath, directed by Francis Galluppi and starring Charlotte Hope, Jessica McNamee, Zach Gilford, and others. The announcement of both projects marks a revitalization of the franchise.
