Fire in Alhambra Claims One Life, Leaves Three Injured
One person has died, and three others were hospitalized following a residential fire in Alhambra late Friday night, authorities reported.
The incident occurred just before 11 p.m. in the 1800 block of South Curtis Avenue, located a few blocks west of Atlantic Boulevard and north of Interstate 10.
Emergency responders arrived to find smoke and flames emanating from the structure, which comprises a front house and a back house, both of which are single-story. Reports indicated that individuals were trapped inside the front home, while two residents of the back house sustained burn injuries.
"Initial crews arrived to find multiple victims with burn injuries and one person reported being trapped in the front home. Fire crews immediately transitioned into rescue mode," officials stated. They noted that four adults were residing in the property, with two in the front house and two in the back. Patients were quickly transported to local hospitals, while one occupant was pronounced dead at the scene.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
