Fire at Winnetka Office Building Leaves One Person Hospitalized
Fire Engulfs Office Building in Winnetka
LOS ANGELES – A major fire erupted early Tuesday morning at a two-story office building located on W. Sherman Way in the Winnetka area of the San Fernando Valley. The Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) is actively working to contain the blaze, which was declared a major emergency at approximately 5:10 a.m.
Upon arrival, LAFD crews were faced with significant challenges due to partial building collapse and fire affecting both floors. Firefighters implemented a defensive strategy in one portion of the structure while conducting an offensive attack in the rear to prevent further spread. Just after 5:50 a.m., officials reported progress in controlling the fire.
One individual was transported to the hospital for smoke inhalation; however, no injuries have been reported among the firefighters. The firefighting operation remains ongoing, leading to street closures in the surrounding area.
Residents of nearby apartment complexes were evacuated as a precautionary measure.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. Further updates will follow as more information becomes available.
