FedEx Truck Accident on 5 Freeway in Pacoima Involves 12,000 Pounds of Packages
FedEx Truck Crash Closes Part of 5 Freeway amid Heavy Rainfall
Pacoima, CA – A FedEx truck accident early Wednesday morning caused the closure of part of the rain-soaked 5 Freeway, as heavy downpours from a storm affected the region. The incident occurred near the De Soto Avenue exit, where the truck, loaded with approximately 12,000 pounds of packages, veered off the roadway.
Fortunately, the truck driver sustained no injuries. However, some packages did spill onto the freeway, complicating the aftermath of the incident. Additionally, the crash resulted in damage to a guardrail alongside the freeway.
Authorities announced that the northbound lanes would remain closed until approximately 11 a.m., just south of the 118 Freeway. The timing coincides with a significant weather event as heavy rain drenched Los Angeles Freeways overnight, with predictions that the storm would peak on Wednesday and continue through Christmas and into the weekend.
