FBI Searches Irvine Home Over Concerns About Hazardous Materials
Possible Hazardous Materials Found in Irvine Home
IRVINE, Calif. – A rental home in a gated community in Irvine is the focus of an ongoing investigation following a raid by the FBI over concerns regarding hazardous materials.
The inquiry began on Monday, when a landlord reported suspicious activity at the property located near the intersection of Cartwheel and Illuna, off Irvine Boulevard. Upon their arrival, local police discovered what appeared to be a homemade science lab, accompanied by signs of a fire. This alarming find prompted authorities to contact the Orange County Fire Authority.
Hazardous materials teams were subsequently deployed to assess the chemicals and documentation found in the residence. Officials have indicated that the materials raised significant safety concerns, which led to the FBI’s involvement. The agency dispatched both its evidence response team and hazardous evidence response team at the request of local and county authorities.
Footage from SkyFOX captured FBI hazmat teams working around the home, donning gas masks and protective gear as they conducted their investigation. The FBI has stated that there is currently no known threat to public safety, confirming that there have been no arrests, injuries, or evacuation orders associated with the incident.
Details regarding the nature of the chemicals or materials discovered remain scarce, and investigators have not yet disclosed information regarding who may have operated the lab or its intended purpose. The investigation is still active as authorities continue their efforts.
