Fashion Highlights from Cannes Film Festival: Feathered Fashions, Fun T-Shirts, and Baby Blue Bumps
Anticipation Builds for 2026 Cannes Film Festival
As the 2026 Cannes Film Festival approaches, much of the conversation has focused on the notable absence of Hollywood in the official selection and the expected impact of “The White Lotus.”
This year, the prestigious event on the French Riviera seems set to showcase a diverse international lineup. European and Asian filmmakers, including Pedro Almodóvar, Nicolas Winding Refn, and Ryusuke Hamaguchi, are taking the spotlight. Out of 22 films vying for the coveted Palme d’Or, only two are from U.S. directors: Ira Sachs’ “The Man I Love,” featuring Rami Malek, and James Gray’s “Paper Tiger,” which stars Scarlett Johansson, Adam Driver, and Miles Teller.
Adding to the festival’s unique atmosphere, red carpet fashion has shifted towards a more eclectic style. Notably, actress Ruth Negga has stood out with a range of looks, including a fringed haute couture Dior slip dress and an Ami tuxedo suit. Similarly, actors Sandra Hüller and Diane Kruger, along with model Suzi de Givenchy, have turned their focus to statement outerwear. Hüller donned an elaborate Chanel feather coat, while Kruger opted for a regal Givenchy cape, and de Givenchy showcased a boxy leather jacket from French label ArdAzAei.
Parallel to the festival’s film activities, the production of the HBO series “The White Lotus” continues, with plots intertwining with the Cannes backdrop. Creator Mike White’s satirical take on the lives of the wealthy is set against the iconic festival setting. However, the extent of the cast’s interaction with the famed red carpet remains uncertain.
As the 12-day event unfolds, viewers can expect to see a variety of remarkable looks that encapsulate both bold artistry and traditional glamour.
