Family of Teen Who Died in Studio City School Parking Lot Accident Files Lawsuit
Family of Deceased Teen Launches Legal Action Against Campbell Hall
The family of Cosmo Silverman, a 15-year-old who tragically died after being pinned between two vehicles at his Studio City school, has announced plans to take legal action against Campbell Hall. Silverman, who had recently completed his freshman year, was struck in the school’s parking lot on June 5 while walking towards his father’s car.
Relatives allege that the parking lot’s design is unsafe and had previously attracted complaints. "We’ve conducted an extensive investigation into how something like this could have happened, this unthinkable tragedy," said Robert Glassman, the family’s attorney. "Unfortunately, what we’ve discovered is that the design of this parking lot was indeed very dangerous and was not compliant with California standards and regulations."
Silverman’s fatal incident occurred in the school’s pickup zone after classes had ended. Following the accident, he was transported to Children’s Hospital in Los Angeles but later succumbed to his injuries.
"Unfortunately, the Campbell Hall parking lot in particular was designed in a way that put kids in direct conflict with vehicles, and that’s something that you’re never ever supposed to do," Glassman emphasized. "California regulations and standards exist for this reason."
In light of Silverman’s death, the school has reportedly implemented changes to its parking lot. Although the Silverman family has reached a resolution with the driver of the Rivian SUV involved in the incident, they are still pursuing accountability from the school.
Campbell Hall officials declined to comment on the ongoing lawsuit.
