Exploring the Life and Career of Belgian Supermodel Rose Bertram in ‘A Girl Like Rose’ Documentary
EXCLUSIVE: The upcoming feature documentary A Girl Like Rose will explore the life of Belgian supermodel Rose Bertram, offering insights into her professional achievements and family dynamics. Directed by Jonathan de Jong under his SUPER7EVEN label, the film is set to premiere next summer.
Bertram rose to prominence at the age of 16, working with prestigious brands such as H&M, L’Oréal, AP, and Sports Illustrated. In addition to her modeling career, she has established herself as an influencer and creative, making her acting debut in the Dutch film Scotoe, directed by Jamel Aattache.
Filmed over five years in various locations including Shanghai, Cannes, Dubai, Ibiza, and Los Angeles, A Girl Like Rose chronicles Bertram’s journey as she navigates new chapters in her career and personal life after becoming a mother. The documentary delves into her relationship with her own mother, promising an intimate narrative that challenges perceptions of the fashion industry and unveils what occurs behind closed doors.
This documentary represents the latest venture from Amsterdam-based production company SUPER7EVEN, known for titles like Human Forever and its forthcoming sequel, Human II Forever. De Jong noted, “Never before have I been so heavily invested in a subject and the people affected by it as I have with this film. Across two very different worlds, I witnessed how powerful the love between a mother and daughter can be – and how that same love can place an entire family under immense strain when circumstances begin to outweigh it.”
He also emphasized the film’s central theme: “This film poses and confronts a rather universal yet painful question: how far can you go for the people you love without losing yourself in the process?”
Creative producer Bastiaan Brand is collaborating on the project, while Bob Thole is tasked with overseeing the film’s score. Distribution responsibilities in the Netherlands and Belgium have been assigned to MN Media and High Mass, respectively.
