Exciting Updates on the Cast of the Newsroom Thriller Red Ink Featuring Toby Leonard Moore, Siobahn Fallon Hogan, Tommie Earl Jenkins, and Eugene Cordero
EXCLUSIVE: Incline Studios has announced the ensemble cast for its forthcoming newsroom thriller, Red Ink, as production concludes in Syracuse, New York.
Set in post-World War II New York City, the film explores themes of media propaganda, institutional authority, and exploitation amid the looming threat of an enigmatic global virus.
The cast features notable actors including Toby Leonard Moore (John Wick), Siobahn Fallon Hogan (Men in Black), Tommie Earl Jenkins (Wednesday), and Eugene Cordero (Loki). Other cast members include Rose Reid (Finding You), Kyle Selig (Welcome to Flatch), Mike Doyle (Almost Love), D.B. Sweeney (The Cutting Edge), Oona Laurence (The Beguiled), Josh Plasse (iCarly), Michael Barra (The Amazing Spider-Man), Max von Essen (Dexter: Resurrection), and Melissa Putterman-Hoffman.
Red Ink unfolds in real-time, utilizing continuous one-shot takes to capture the urgency of a breaking news story. The narrative takes place over a single morning in November 1949, set within the bustling headquarters of the esteemed Verity Press.
Toby Leonard Moore portrays Bob Hoover, the editor-in-chief of Verity and a renowned war photographer whose Pulitzer-winning image significantly influenced public sentiment at the conclusion of World War II. Hoover’s composed leadership is put to the test as unsettling reports emerge of a mysterious affliction affecting New Yorkers. With impending deadlines, he and his team strive to shape the news narrative before it falls into the hands of rival newspapers and government figures.
As pressure mounts from publisher Walter Nash (Sweeney) and Senator Conrad (Doyle), Hoover faces challenges in managing the narrative, which is increasingly manipulated towards fear and control. Meanwhile, his teenage niece Dot, a talented but impulsive photojournalist, investigates the situation. Her findings are alarming: the affliction’s victims do not appear on film.
The newsroom grapples with the terrifying notion that the outbreak may not be a typical virus but something potentially supernatural and hazardous.
Produced by Incline Studios in collaboration with The Dazey Phase, Ignite Studios, and Pine Bay Pictures, Red Ink is directed by Incline Studios co-founders Benjamin J. Murray (Clod) and Michael Christensen (Whelp). The screenplay was crafted by Christensen, while the story is a joint effort by Murray, Christensen, and Marty Lucero.
"We aimed to explore the world of propaganda during a time when institutional information was trusted, valued, and immensely powerful. Red Ink addresses how modern media can brand certain groups for political gain—how fear transforms individuals into scapegoats before understanding what they fear," stated co-directors Murray and Christensen.
The production team includes producers Murray, Marty Lucero, Jake Casey, and Erin Mae Miller, with executive producers Brian David Cange, Zachery J. Burns, Jeff Moseley, Nidal Kahl, Brev Moss, and Robert J. Goodwin. Darren Cogan serves as co-producer, while Sadra Tehrani handles production design, and Sofija Mesicek is responsible for costume design.
Incline Studios was founded in 2025 by filmmakers and entrepreneurs including Murray, Christensen, Lucero, Hamish Briggs, and Goodwin, with a mission to create uplifting and original stories that restore adventure and hope to cinema, bridging the gap between blockbuster franchises and thematically dark arthouse films.
