Exciting Season 5 of the Ms. Pat Show: Medical Drama and Special Guest Stars Tisha Campbell, Loretta Devine, and Raven-Symoné
The highly anticipated fifth season of BET+’s popular comedy series The Ms. Pat Show is set to premiere on Wednesday, January 7, featuring a fresh batch of episodes and an array of guest stars. The trailer, which recently debuted online, promises an engaging mix of chaos and humor for fans.
Based on the life experiences of comedian Pat "Ms. Pat" Williams-Lee, the series draws from her memoir Rabbit: The Autobiography of Ms. Pat. It narrates the journey of a former drug dealer and convicted felon who becomes a suburban mother, illustrating the complexities of a multi-generational African American family immersed in modern-day challenges. The show provides an unfiltered look at societal issues while maintaining a comedic tone.
The previous four seasons of this R-rated sitcom addressed various serious topics, including drug addiction, abortion, and familial dysfunction. In its fifth season, The Ms. Pat Show continues to tackle these complex themes as the Carson family confronts both the emotional scars of absent and present parents and the pursuit of personal dreams amidst turmoil. BET+ describes this upcoming installment as the "wildest, most uproarious season yet," highlighting the constant changes that the Carsons navigate.
Season five will feature guest appearances from notable stars such as Raven-Symoné, Tisha Campbell, Tristan "Mack" Wilds, and Loretta Devine. The series’ co-creator, Jordan E. Cooper, is also set to reprise his role as Sadiq Shay.
In the upcoming episodes, Tisha Campbell will portray Sheila Jackson, Brandon’s older girlfriend, while Loretta Devine will take on the role of Carol, a lively resident at the senior center. Additionally, Raven-Symoné will appear as Lady Tyra, a prominent comedian inviting Pat to join her tour.
The first three episodes dropping in January promise to deliver a blend of humor and heart. Episode 501, titled "Killin’ and Dyin’," showcases Pat’s relentless determination leading to a fainting spell, followed by a commitment to perform at a major comedy event alongside Raven-Symoné.
Episode 502, "Wild Goose Chase," follows Pat’s family as they navigate the fallout from a yard sale where personal belongings—including a container of ashes—go missing.
Finally, Episode 503, "License and Registration?," highlights Janelle’s struggles with college course registration and the chaotic aftermath when Junebug steals and crashes a car.
Tami Roman returns as Pat’s sister Denise, who seems to have found a new romantic interest in the latest season.
The Ms. Pat Show is co-created by Williams-Lee and Cooper, with an executive production team that includes Rose-Catherine Pinkney, Lee Daniels, and Brian Grazer. The writing staff features a diverse group dedicated to crafting this unique series, which highlights both humor and the realities of family life.
As anticipation builds for the premiere, fans are encouraged to watch the new trailer to catch a glimpse of what promises to be another exhilarating season.
