Ewan McGregor is a father of five.

The Star Wars actor married French production designer Eve Mavrakis in the summer of 1995. Seven months later, the couple welcomed their first child, Clara. Their second daughter, Esther, was born in 2001. Following Esther’s birth, the couple adopted two more daughters, Jamyan and Anouk.

“They’re my everything,” McGregor stated in an April 2021 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, referencing his four daughters.

McGregor and Mavrakis separated in May 2017 after 22 years of marriage, announcing their split in October of that year amid media scrutiny following McGregor’s relationship with his Fargo co-star, Mary Elizabeth Winstead. Subsequently, he took a nearly 10-month hiatus from work to spend time with his children.

The actor later described his divorce, which was finalized in 2020, as “like a bomb going off in everyone’s life — my children’s lives.”

In the following year, McGregor welcomed his fifth child, a son named Laurie, with Winstead. The couple married in a small ceremony in April 2022.

McGregor received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in September 2024. Winstead, along with four of his children—Clara, Jamyan, Anouk, and Laurie—attended the special event.

Here’s a closer look at Ewan McGregor’s five children: Clara, Esther, Jamyan, Anouk, and Laurie.

Clara McGregor, 29

Ewan’s eldest child, Clara McGregor, was born in England on February 4, 1996. Initially, she distanced herself from acting to focus on her own career but eventually felt drawn back to the craft after modeling.

Clara signed with Wilhelmina Models in 2017 and graduated from New York University the following year. She later posed for Playboy and collaborated with Bluebella for their Christmas lingerie collection.

In an interview with the British brand, she shared, “I’m bisexual myself so I’m always wanting to work with them because they have represented the LGBT+ community and they are open to all walks of life and different people.”

Earlier in 2021, Clara stirred media attention with critical remarks about Winstead, calling her “a piece of trash” in an Instagram post. She eventually issued an apology in an interview, saying, “It wasn’t my finest moment.”

Addressing her father, Clara stated, “I love him and I always will,” adding that despite disagreeing with his choices, she hopes for his happiness.

Clara has shared the screen with McGregor in the crime thriller The Birthday Cake, which she also co-produced. They reunited again for the drama film You Sing Loud, I Sing Louder, now retitled Bleeding Love, which follows a father-daughter road trip that tackles unresolved issues.

Anticipation grows as the film is set to hit theaters and on-demand on February 16, 2024, after previewing a trailer in January.

Clara described her experience working with her dad as “an incredible experience,” highlighting the rarity of such moments in adulthood.

Esther McGregor, 24

Born on November 7, 2001, Esther-Rose McGregor has pursued various artistic interests, including music and tattoo artistry.

Following in her sister’s footsteps, Esther has also modeled, participating in a Fendi campaign alongside Clara in August 2018. She is currently represented by boutique agency Souls & Faces Cast.

McGregor praised his daughters in a May 2021 interview, expressing pride in their beauty and creative endeavors.

Besides modeling, Esther is a member of the band French Thyme, which produces music in English and French. In addition, she has established herself as a tattoo artist in New York City, sharing her passion for enhancing self-image through her art.

In a discussion about her tattoo work, Esther expressed a desire to help people feel more comfortable in their skin, noting the personal reflection present in her art.

Esther has also shared the screen with her father, making a cameo in the Disney+ series Obi-Wan Kenobi, with McGregor emphasizing that she earned her spot through an audition.

Jamyan McGregor, 24

In April 2006, Ewan and Eve adopted Jamyan McGregor from Mongolia at the age of 4. Jamyan was born in June 2001.

McGregor encountered Jamyan during a visit to a children’s shelter in Mongolia while filming a TV show in 2004, expressing a lasting impression that led to her adoption nearly two years later.

“It was a big moment for me that changed everything,” McGregor reflected.

Now based in Connecticut, Jamyan graduated from Besant Hill School in 2020 and is pursuing a degree in criminal justice at Mitchell College, set to graduate in 2024.

She describes herself on social media as a women’s rights activist, swimmer, traveler, and equestrian, and recently shared her first tattoo.

In a heartfelt birthday tribute in 2021, Esther honored Jamyan, expressing gratitude for their close sibling bond.

Anouk McGregor, the youngest of Ewan’s children, was born in February 2011, and is believed to have been adopted shortly after her birth.

Ewan has mentioned that his children aren’t particularly interested in Star Wars, noting in an interview that discussions about the franchise are rare in their household.

In his acceptance speech for the Emmy award he won in September 2021, McGregor spoke to the importance of supporting women’s rights, particularly reflecting on his role as a father to daughters.
