Endemol Shine Australia Expands U.S. Ambitions with New Development Executive
Endemol Shine Australia, the production company behind popular shows such as CBS’s The Summit, ABC’s Family Food Fight, and Paramount+’s NCIS: Sydney, is aiming for significant expansion in the U.S. and beyond. The company has appointed Dan Cazzola as Senior Vice President of Development in a move intended to bolster its operations.
Cazzola will be based in Los Angeles and will report to ESA’s Creative Director, Elliot Spencer. His role will focus on enhancing the slate of English-language originals by developing “big, bold, and dynamic IP.”
This position represents a return for Cazzola, who previously spent five years at Endemol Shine North America as Senior Vice President of Unscripted Development. During his tenure, he successfully developed and sold various series, including NBC’s Deal or No Deal Island and Hot Wheels: Ultimate Challenge, as well as Disney+’s Foodtastic and Domino Challenge, which aired on channels like France’s M6.
Moreover, Cazzola oversaw U.S. adaptations of several Banijay formats, including Fox’s Lego Masters and The CW’s Would I Lie To You? Most recently, he served as a consultant for Richard Bacon’s Yes Yes Media, where he worked on development projects for both the U.S. and U.K. markets, including the upcoming music competition series Who’s In The Band for ABC.
In a statement, Cazzola expressed his enthusiasm, saying, “ESA has the best creative team in the business, and I’ve always admired the work they do. Being back at Banijay and working with ESA on their ambitious growth strategy in the US and internationally to build standout original content is incredibly exciting.”
Peter Newman, Chief Executive Officer of ESA, also welcomed Cazzola’s appointment, stating, “ESA’s track record of building defining versions of multi-territory, global formats and original IP that travels is thanks to the world-class talent we attract. Dan’s exceptional creative vision and proven ability for working with broadcast partners to deliver major original series makes him an outstanding addition to the team.”
