Emma Slater Shares Her Thoughts on Leaving ‘Dancing With The Stars’
Emma Slater has addressed speculation regarding her potential departure from Dancing with the Stars ahead of the upcoming season.
Slater, a veteran of the show since Season 17 in 2013, reflected on the rumors during an appearance on Andy Richter’s SiriusXM podcast, Three Questions with Andy Richter. The pro dancer, who partnered with Richter in the most recent season, was taken aback by inquiries about her retirement. "I was like, ‘What rumor?’ They said, ‘Are you retiring this year?’ And I could see how a rumor like that would be starting, because they’re looking at me like, ‘She’s the old girl,’” Slater recounted.
Despite the chatter, Slater emphasized her commitment to Dancing with the Stars, stating she has had “the most incredible time” and plans to continue as long as she can. "I would like it to be on my decision, I think," she remarked. "But I’ve decided that I’m going to expect to be there, and if and when they say I’m not invited anymore, I’ll conquer that when it happens.”
Furthermore, Slater expressed a desire to remain involved with the show, even in a different capacity. "If I was not asked to return, I would still want to be involved with DWTS and suggested I would ask to be a producer," she said. Addressing the issue of ageism in Hollywood, she noted, “As soon as I feel like I’m going to be choked out, I’ll pull the ageism thing. ‘This is what Hollywood does to women as they age!’”
During her tenure on the show, Slater achieved significant success, winning the competition in Season 24 in 2017 alongside partner Rashad Jennings. Throughout her career with DWTS, she has danced with notable stars, including James Van Der Beek, Drew Scott, Charles Oakley, Trevor Donovan, and Mauricio Umansky.
