Elizabeth Hurley Wears Her Iconic 1999 Versace Dress at the Met Gala Again After Nearly 30 Years
Elizabeth Hurley recently revisited a memorable fashion moment by donning a vintage Versace dress during a getaway in India, marking its return since she last wore it in 1999.
On March 9, Hurley, 60, took to Instagram to share glimpses of her journey along with the striking gown, which features a plunging neckline, halter straps, and a fitted skirt with a thigh-high slit. The dress is embellished with pink and orange jewels accentuating her waist.
The model complemented her look with a diamond bracelet, a silver pendant necklace, dangling earrings, and a bindi on her forehead. Her makeup included smokey eyeshadow, a dewy finish, rosy cheeks, and glossy pink lips, while her hairstyle featured loose curls parted down the middle.
In her Instagram post, Hurley expressed her love for India, stating, “India has been a pivotal part of my life for over 20 years and I cherish every moment in this magnificent country 🇮🇳. What a magical first night back in paradise, reuniting with some of my favorite people on the planet ♥️. Wearing a @versace dress from my archive which I last wore 27 years ago to the [1999] Met Gala 😳.”
In a follow-up post, Hurley showcased a side-by-side of herself in the dress from her latest adventure and the 1999 Met Gala, captioning it, “Viva Versace! For this weekend’s adventure in India, I dug into my archives and unearthed one of my favorite pieces, which I last wore to the Met Gala in 1999 😳 27 years may have passed, but some loves never fade💋.” Her famous peers took to the comments to share their enthusiasm.
Donatella Versace praised the moment with emojis, while Hurley’s boyfriend, Billy Ray Cyrus, shared heart emojis, and her son, Damian Hurley, exclaimed, “Hell yeaaaaaa ❤️.”
Looking back at her previous appearance in the iconic gown, Elizabeth chose minimal jewelry and instead carried a sequined bag. At that time, she opted for soft, voluminous curls and subtle makeup, allowing the dress to remain the centerpiece.
