El Camino Real Pitcher Jackson Sellz Shares a Valuable Lesson on Parking His Car
Excitement filled El Camino Real High this week during batting practice when JJ Saffie, the leading power hitter on the baseball team, hit a home run that sailed over the left-field fence. A teammate retrieving the ball made a surprising discovery: the rear windshield of pitcher Jackson Sellz’s car was shattered. Concerned about how his parents would react, Jackson shared the news with his father.
“We had a good laugh,” said Stu Sellz, Jackson’s father.
The Sellz family has a history of breaking windows from home runs, dating back to the 1990s. Stu, along with his brothers Scott and Brandon, played baseball at Chatsworth High. Notably, Scott earned a reputation as the family’s best window breaker, a title later shared by Stu’s other son, Braden.
In the wake of this latest incident, Jackson and his family are addressing the consequence of parking too close to the foul pole along Burbank Boulevard.
“This is the baseball gods getting back at us,” Stu commented.
Despite usually parking near center field, Jackson opted for his regular spot, which was unavailable that morning.
What lesson did Jackson learn from this experience?
“He now knows to get to school earlier,” said Stu Sellz.
The event at El Camino Real serves as a light-hearted reminder of the unpredictable nature of high school sports and the familial bonds that make these moments memorable.
