DUI Suspect Arrested After Climbing Roof of Sun Valley School Following Chase
Suspect Removed from Roof of Sun Valley School Building
LOS ANGELES – A DUI suspect was apprehended Monday morning after climbing onto the roof of a Los Angeles Unified School District building in Sun Valley following a brief police pursuit.
The incident began when officers attempted to pull over a driver suspected of being under the influence. According to law enforcement officials, the driver refused to stop, resulting in a short chase that concluded with a crash. The suspect then fled on foot through nearby school properties.
Authorities reported that the suspect ultimately climbed onto the roof of a school building associated with the LA Unified School District, which is located near Bird Middle School and Francis Polytechnic High School. The suspect was safely detained by LAPD officers, who pulled him down from the roof.
Additionally, investigators revealed that a fanny pack found inside the suspect’s vehicle is believed to have contained a gun. Police plan to search several locations along the route of the pursuit to determine if the weapon was discarded or hidden.
Looking ahead, investigators will continue their search for potential evidence in the areas where the suspect was seen by a police helicopter during the chase.
