Ducks Season Ends with Heartbreaking Loss to Vegas
Ducks Eliminate from Playoffs in Loss to Golden Knights
In a decisive end to their playoff journey, the Anaheim Ducks were defeated by the Vegas Golden Knights 5-1 on Thursday in Game 6 of the second-round Stanley Cup playoff series. This loss marked the conclusion of the Ducks’ Cinderella run, which saw them advance to the playoffs for the first time since 2017.
The game quickly turned unfavorable for the Ducks, with the Golden Knights scoring two goals within the first 8.5 minutes. Mitch Marner and Brett Howden put Vegas ahead before many fans had settled into their seats at Honda Center.
Following the game, the Golden Knights secured their place in the Western Conference Final against the Colorado Avalanche, while the Ducks face an early offseason. Despite the disappointing ending, this marks the team’s latest entry into the playoffs since they last reached the second round in 2017, offering a glimmer of hope for a brighter future.
Troy Terry, the last remaining link to the Ducks’ previous playoff appearances, reflected on the experience. “I think our team, we learned, myself included, just how to play in those games,” Terry stated. “It stings right now, but I think I speak for everyone that we’ll be hungry going into the summer. It was fun to play in this. It’s been a long time.”
Despite the setback, the Ducks have laid groundwork for improvement, showcasing resilience throughout the playoff series.
