Drake Maye Faces Challenges in His Game, but It’s Not the Toughest Super Bowl Showing by a Quarterback
Super Bowl LX: Quarterback Performance Under Scrutiny
In an underwhelming first half of Super Bowl LX, New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye managed to pass for only 48 yards against the Seattle Seahawks. This statistic stands out as the Patriots struggled offensively, trailing 9-0 at halftime.
While Maye’s total for half-time was notably low, it is not the lowest for a Super Bowl. According to Guinness World Records, the fewest passing yards allowed in a game occurred during Super Bowl XII, where the Dallas Cowboys restricted the Denver Broncos to just 35 net passing yards. In that match-up, Broncos quarterback Craig Morton threw four completions on 11 attempts for 39 yards, adding to his struggles with four interceptions.
Morton’s performance continued to falter as he opened the third quarter with another series of incomplete passes before being replaced by Norris Weese. Weese also struggled, completing four of 10 passes for just 22 yards. The Cowboys ultimately won that game 27-10.
In the ongoing contest, Maye completed six of 11 attempts without any touchdowns or interceptions but was sacked three times for a loss of 30 yards. Despite this offensive struggle, the Patriots stayed within striking distance, with a total offense of just 51 yards by halftime.
