Actor Dominic Sessa Embraces Holiday Film Roles
Dominic Sessa is carving out a niche in holiday-themed films, expressing a desire to star in more Christmas movies following his appearances in 2023’s The Holdovers and the recent release of Oh. What. Fun.
In an interview at the New York City premiere of Oh. What. Fun. on December 2, Sessa, 23, shared his unexpected path into the festive genre. "I don’t know how this happened, but I’m leaning into it. I also just love Christmas. I want to be the Christmas king. So however I can exist in a Christmas movie, I’m there," he stated.
Sessa’s breakout role came in The Holdovers, where he portrayed a teenager at a New England boarding school in 1970. His character is left behind during Christmas break with his strict teacher, played by Paul Giamatti. Two years later, Sessa finds himself in another holiday project, starring alongside Michelle Pfeiffer in Oh. What. Fun.

In Oh. What. Fun., Sessa plays the son of Pfeiffer’s character, Claire Cluster, who embarks on an adventure after her family unintentionally leaves her behind during holiday preparations. The film’s synopsis hints at a journey of self-discovery as Claire navigates the chaos of the season.
"It was flattering to think that she could have created me," Sessa remarked about portraying a member of Pfeiffer’s onscreen family. He praised her “amazing” presence on set, noting that she treated the cast with warmth and kindness.
