Doja Cat Opens Up About Her Relationship Status and Handling Online Criticism

Doja Cat opened up about her personal life and experiences with online criticism in a Vogue cover story released on March 18. The musician candidly discussed her relationship status and the impact of negative comments she’s faced over the years.
When asked if she still classifies herself as a “serial dater,” a label she has previously used, Doja responded affirmatively. “Yes,” she stated. “I’m 30, so I’m ovulating and horny.”
Doja confirmed that she is currently in a relationship but chose not to disclose any names. She mentioned that her partner plans to visit her while she is on tour, supporting her acclaimed album Vie, which reached No. 4 on the Billboard 200. Notably, she expressed that her favorite aspect of dating is “when they leave.”
“This is what therapy has done for me,” she elaborated. “It’s allowed me to be away and be at peace without being like, ‘I need tarot cards. I need an answer. Text me.’ I don’t do any of that anymore. It’s very nice.”
The Grammy-winning artist was previously linked to Joseph Quinn, with dating rumors beginning in 2024 after a public spat involving his co-star Noah Schnapp in 2022. Before this, she was associated with musician J. Cyrus.
The confrontation with Schnapp highlights Doja’s history of addressing her critics directly online. Just prior to her Vogue interview, she criticized Timothée Chalamet for dismissing opera and ballet, a remark she later retracted, stating she had engaged in “virtue signaling.”
Doja has also responded to her critics on social media, a tendency she discussed in the interview. “When I feel that I’m threatened, even though it may not be a threat at all, it rhymes with: You are failing,” she explained. “I feel like I have to defend my creative choices, and then I give those people power even though they could be anybody — they could have Cheeto dust on their fingers and have no job.”
She noted that therapy has significantly helped her manage these feelings, revealing earlier this month that she was diagnosed with borderline personality disorder. “I’m not cured of anything,” she clarified. “But it helps me understand why I do the things that I do.”
