Dog Reunited with Owner in LA After Three Long Years Apart
Boston Terrier Stolen in 2022 Reunites with Owner After Nearly Four Years
LOS ANGELES – A case of pet theft that had gripped a community reached a heartwarming conclusion at the Wags & Walks Adoption Center. Baeya, a Boston Terrier taken from her owner Shelton’s porch in July 2022, was reunited with him after an extensive search lasting almost four years.
The reunion unfolded after a friend of Shelton’s recognized Baeya in an Instagram post from Wags & Walks, which featured a stray Boston Terrier they had recently rescued from a local shelter. Remarkably, this discovery came just 24 hours after a potential adoption for Baeya fell through, allowing Shelton a second chance to reclaim his beloved pet.
For years, Shelton tirelessly searched for Baeya, distributing flyers and even creating merchandise bearing her likeness to keep her memory alive. Despite his efforts, details regarding Baeya’s life during her absence remain unclear. After her theft, she was processed through the shelter system until Wags & Walks intervened.
Shelton expressed his overwhelming emotions upon seeing Baeya’s photo. "I never stopped looking for her, but seeing her face on that Instagram post was a moment I can’t even describe," he shared.
The representatives at Wags & Walks emphasized the fortuitous timing of Baeya’s rescue, which almost resulted in her adoption by another family the day before the Instagram post went live.
As Baeya settles back into her home, this reunion highlights the importance of microchipping pets and keeping contact information up to date. Local rescues recommend monitoring social media pages, as many stray animals are eventually rescued from shelters by private groups.
