Disney+ Introduces New Leadership Role in the UK
Disney+ Expands UK Team with New Senior Manager Role
Disney+ has announced the creation of a senior management position in the UK as the streaming service continues to enhance its team across the Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) region.
A job listing, posted two days ago, seeks an “experienced, strategic, creative, and highly collaborative Senior Manager, Development, UK Scripted.” The selected candidate will join the Rivals and Extraordinary commissioning team, which operates from London under the direction of EMEA content head Angela Jain.
According to the job advertisement, the new role will be instrumental in shaping Disney+’s scripted content offerings in the UK. A Disney spokesperson confirmed that this position is being established within the EMEA team to bolster development efforts.
The role is expected to attract high-caliber candidates, particularly amid recent challenges in the film and television sector. A report from the Film & TV Charity revealed that nearly 74% of professionals in the UK film and TV industry have considered leaving their jobs over the past year due to financial pressures. Jain has already begun restructuring her team since assuming her position, including the promotion of Rivals commissioner Lee Mason to Vice President of Scripted content.
Jain appears to be moving forward with ambitions to create eye-catching content. Disney-owned FX chief John Landgraf recently noted that the company is “trying to reposition as much capital as we can outside the U.S.”
Since Landgraf’s statement, Disney+ EMEA has announced several notable upcoming projects, including the comedy series Mosquito, featuring Nicholas Hoult and Daisy Edgar-Jones, and an unscripted program with Alan Carr, where the Celebrity Traitors winner seeks to fulfill his dream of owning a castle. The service has also partnered with indie firm Stephen Graham’s Adolescence for new content and is collaborating with Danny Brocklehurst, the writer of Fool Me Once.
Disney+ EMEA’s flagship series, Rivals, is set to premiere its second season in May. Jain is expected to provide updates on the company’s developments during her keynote address at the upcoming Series Mania festival. As Disney prepares for this transition, industry observers are eager to see how the international strategy evolves under new CEO Josh D’Amaro.
