Disney Announces Steven Knight’s Oasis Documentary with First Joint Interview of Gallagher Brothers in 25 Years
Oasis Documentary Set to Premier in Theaters This September
Oasis fans can look forward to a highly anticipated documentary directed by Steven Knight, set to debut in theaters on September 11. This film features the first joint interview with the Gallagher brothers in over 25 years.
Disney has officially confirmed the documentary’s limited theatrical run, which will include IMAX screenings, before it becomes available on Disney+ later this year.
The project, centered around one of Britain’s most iconic rock bands and their recent reunion tour, was first reported last year. Knight, known for creating Peaky Blinders, captures the essence of this comeback in a compelling narrative.
Co-directed by Dylan Southern and Will Lovelace, the documentary is being hailed as an “unapologetically uplifting account of arguably the biggest musical event of 2025.” It aims to encapsulate the experiences and emotions shared between the band and their fans globally. Knight has included footage of rehearsals, backstage moments, and the onstage performances, complemented by the exclusive joint interview with the Gallagher brothers.
In preparation for the documentary’s release, Knight expressed his enthusiasm: “I genuinely cannot wait for the world to see this film. I believe it captures the spirit and emotion of a global cultural moment and does justice to the wit and genius of two exceptional people. I wanted to tell the story of the brothers and the band, but just as important, the story of the fans whose lives the music has touched and sometimes changed forever. It is also the story of how music and songwriting can unite generations, cultures, countries and in a time of spite and division, give us all some reason to hope.”
Prior reports indicated that Oasis had plans to document their reunion tour for cinema audiences. The band performed 17 shows last year, starting in Cardiff in July. Demand for tickets was so high that many fans faced inflated prices due to “dynamic pricing” practices, which are currently under review by a government watchdog.
The untitled documentary is produced by Magna Studios and Sony Music Vision, with Sam Bridger and Guy Heeley serving as producers. The executive production team includes Kate Shepherd, Marisa Clifford, Tom Mackay, Krista Wegener, Isabel Davis, and Tim O’Shea. The technical side is bolstered by Oscar-winning sound mixers James Mather and Tarn Willers, alongside cinematographer Haris Zambarloukos. Additional details, including cinema listings, will be announced in the near future.
