Diplo’s Major Lazer to Perform at 2026 Winter Olympics Closing Ceremony
Diplo’s Major Lazer is slated to perform at the Closing Ceremony of the 2026 Winter Olympics in Verona, Italy. The announcement was made on Saturday, February 21, just a day ahead of the highly anticipated event.
The group is expected to perform notable tracks, including “Lean On,” which achieved a peak position of No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2015. According to a press release, Major Lazer will be joined by “several surprise guests.” The performance will air live on NBC and stream on Peacock at 2 p.m. ET on Sunday, February 22.
The grand finale of the Olympic Games will be held at the Verona Olympic Arena, with other confirmed performers including Italian artist Achille Lauro, actress Benedetta Porcaroli, and DJ Gabry Ponte. This ceremony will celebrate the achievements of Olympic athletes and honor their contributions.
On Saturday afternoon, Diplo shared a lighthearted Instagram reel, humorously depicting his near-miss in catching a flight to the Olympics while riding a bicycle down the highway. Fortunately, he made it onto a plane by the end of the clip, drink in hand.
This announcement comes on the heels of news from Mexico City’s El Universal, which reported that Diplo would not perform at EDC Mexico this weekend due to logistical issues faced by festival organizers.
Major Lazer’s last album, Music Is the Weapon, was released in 2020, marking their fourth studio full-length.
