DINO from SEVENTEEN Launches Solo Project Picheolin with New Mini Album Inspired by Billboard’s Charts

DINO, a member of the popular K-pop group SEVENTEEN, is reintroducing himself to fans with a new project. On May 11, he announced that he will debut under the alter ego Picheolin, alongside the release of his first solo mini album this summer.
The album, titled 吉BOARD—pronounced “Gilboard”—pays homage to the 1990s Korean street music scene. According to the press release, the title is a playful reference to Billboard charts, drawing from unofficial street music charts and cassette compilations of that era.
The release explained, “By combining the homophone ‘吉’ (Gil), meaning ‘good fortune,’ with the English word ‘BOARD,’ the album encapsulates Picheolin’s ambition to turn the streets into his stage, spreading joy and prosperity to all through his music.”
吉BOARD is set to be released on August 3. To give fans a preview of Picheolin’s world, DINO shared an album trailer on the same day. The visual features him as Picheolin—a “charismatic CEO and joyful producer of the fictional agency BOMG”—navigating various historical eras, concluding with his modern self dressed in a stylish blue suit and fedora.
At the end of the teaser, viewers can glimpse the album’s title artwork, which draws inspiration from the Billboard logo.
In addition to this new endeavor, DINO has previously released solo singles, including “Icarus” for the television series Castaway Diva and “Wait,” both in 2023.
SEVENTEEN’s latest single, “Tiny Light,” was released in February. Last year, the group, which includes members JOSHUA, MINGYU, SEUNGKWAN, VERNON, S.COUPS, JEONGHAN, JUN, HOSHI, WONWOO, WOOZI, THE 8, and DK, topped the Billboard Top Album Sales chart with their fifth album, Happy Burstday. The group is scheduled to participate in a fan event in Incheon, Korea, this June.
