Suspect Dead After Ambush on LASD Deputies in East Los Angeles
LOS ANGELES – A suspect is dead following a violent ambush early Wednesday morning involving Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies in East Los Angeles, authorities reported.
The standoff unfolded around 2 a.m. in the 1400 block of South Downey Road, near the intersection of Triggs Street, spurred by a 911 call. Upon arrival, deputies were met with a barrage of gunfire, which temporarily trapped two personnel. In response, the East Los Angeles station deployed a BearCat armored vehicle to provide protection and aid in safely extracting the deputies from the situation.
According to investigators, a relative of the suspect was present in the home during the confrontation. Eventually, deputies returned fire, resulting in the suspect being pronounced dead at the scene. Fortunately, no other injuries were reported.
As the investigation continues, questions remain regarding the circumstances of the suspect’s death, specifically whether he succumbed to gunfire from the deputies or died by suicide. The identity of the suspect has not yet been released.
