Dennis Schroder of the Kings Suspended After Dispute with Luka Doncic
NEW YORK — Sacramento Kings guard Dennis Schroder has been suspended for three games without pay due to an off-court incident that involved an attempt to strike another player during a confrontation, the NBA announced Saturday night.
The league stated that this incident occurred approximately 40 minutes after the Kings’ 125-101 defeat to the Lakers on December 28, when Schroder confronted the player in a hallway at Crypto.com Arena. While the NBA did not name the Lakers player involved, ESPN reports that it was Luka Doncic. Throughout the game, tensions were evident as Doncic reportedly taunted Schroder about not signing an $84-million contract with the Lakers in 2021.
As a result of the suspension, Schroder will be sidelined for home games against the Houston Rockets on Sunday, the Lakers on Monday, and the New York Knicks on Wednesday. He is scheduled to return for a home game against the Washington Wizards on Friday.
Schroder, standing at 6 feet 1 inch, is in the midst of his 12th season in the NBA. He has played for ten different teams and is currently averaging 13 points and 5.7 assists per game this season.
