Daryl McCormack Joins Dakota Fanning in Apple’s Alex Cary Thriller Series
EXCLUSIVE: Actor Daryl McCormack is set to join Dakota Fanning and Stellan Skarsgård in Apple TV’s upcoming untitled thriller series, created by Emmy-winning writer Alex Cary, known for his work on A Spy Among Friends and Homeland.
In this new series from Sony Pictures Television, Fanning portrays an undercover Treasury agent navigating a multi-billion-dollar international conglomerate with significant political and criminal influence. As her mission unfolds, she finds herself torn between her duty and her growing conviction that her principal target—the heir to the corrupt organization—may possess a good heart and be deserving of her affection.
McCormack will assume the role of Kar, the hesitant heir, with Skarsgård playing Brandt, the head of the conglomerate, a casting decision announced previously.
Cary, who is also showrunning under his overall deal with FLW Productions and Sony, is executive producing the series alongside Julie Gardner (Lady in the Lake, Doctor Who), Dakota and Elle Fanning, and Brittany Kahan Ward of Lewellen Pictures (Margo’s Got Money Troubles, The Great). Kari Skogland, known for Smoke and The Handmaid’s Tale, is set to direct and executive produce, with Amy Kaufman (Invasion, Lady in the Lake) also attached as an executive producer.
Daryl McCormack, an Irish actor, gained recognition for his breakout role opposite Emma Thompson in the Searchlight/Hulu dramedy Good Luck to You, Leo Grande, earning two BAFTA nominations and an IFTA nomination. He has recently appeared in Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, the third installment of Netflix’s whodunit series by Rian Johnson, and Jan Komasa’s thriller Anniversary. McCormack has also contributed to projects like Twisters and Apple TV’s Bad Sisters.
Currently, he is filming a role in Tom Ford’s Cry to Heaven, based on Anne Rice’s novel. McCormack’s forthcoming projects include Netflix’s Pride and Prejudice series led by Dolly Alderton and the film I See Buildings Fall Like Lightning, adapted from Keiran Goddard’s novel. He is represented by B-Side Management and WME.
