Dan Berk and Robert Olsen Team Up with Ludacris for Universal’s New Action Film ‘Limited Edition’
Universal Pictures and 87North Collaborate on ‘Limited Edition’ Featuring Ludacris
Universal Pictures and 87North are set to develop an action film titled Limited Edition, starring Ludacris, best known for his role in the Fast & Furious franchise. The film will be written and directed by Dan Berk and Robert Olsen, the creative team behind Novocaine.
While the plot details remain undisclosed, the project will be produced by Kelly McCormick and David Leitch through 87North’s first-look deal with Universal. Braden Aftergood, who recently joined 87North after co-founding Balboa, will also oversee the production.
Jay Polidoro, Executive Vice President of Production Development, along with Director of Development Tony Ducret, will supervise Limited Edition for Universal.
Ludacris, a multi-platinum rapper and actor, is widely recognized for portraying Tej in the Fast & Furious series, one of the most successful action franchises of all time. His film credentials also include the Oscar-winning Crash, the critically acclaimed Hustle & Flow, and the holiday comedy Dashing Through the Snow released in 2023. With a career spanning nearly three decades, he has sold over 20 million albums and won three Grammy Awards, alongside securing five No. 1 singles on the Billboard Hot 100.
Berk and Olsen are coming off the success of Novocaine, an action comedy starring Jack Quaid that topped the box office in March and became a popular streaming title. They previously directed Significant Other, a sci-fi thriller, and Villains, a horror-comedy that received accolades at SXSW in 2019.
87North’s upcoming slate includes several high-profile projects, such as How to Rob a Bank, Violent Night 2, Ballerina Overdrive, and the thriller Over Your Dead Body directed by Jorma Taccone.
