Dakota Johnson Shares Her Audition Experience and Speaks Out About Courtesy Over Cockiness
Dakota Johnson recently reflected on an audition experience that ultimately cost her a role, attributing her fate to her courteous demeanor.
While promoting her film Splitsville in the UK, Johnson recounted a callback where she was criticized for her polite introduction, being labeled “pompous” and “cocky” for taking the time to shake hands with everyone in the audition room.
“I had an audition once, and it was a callback, and I went into the room, and I shook everyone’s hand and introduced myself. Then I did the scene, and I left,” Johnson shared during an appearance on Hits Radio.
She elaborated, “The feedback I got was that because I had gone and introduced myself and shook everyone’s hand, I was pompous. That I was schmoozing, and I was full of myself, and I was like: ‘What?’ I didn’t get the job because they said that I was being cocky, but I just had manners… It was pretty crazy.”
