Cross Gets Picked Up for Season 3 on Prime Video
Prime Video has announced the renewal of its popular thriller series Cross for an eight-episode third season, set to bring back the intriguing character of Alex Cross.
The series, developed by Ben Watkins and inspired by James Patterson’s bestselling novels, features Aldis Hodge in the titular role of the complex detective. The upcoming season is expected to broaden the high-stakes narrative surrounding this iconic character, according to Prime Video’s announcement.
“From the beginning, Cross has captivated audiences with its layered characters, pulse-pounding suspense and emotionally grounded storytelling,” said Peter Friedlander, Head of Global Television at Amazon MGM Studios. “Aldis has delivered a definitive portrayal of Alex Cross, anchoring the series with depth, intelligence and heart. We’re thrilled to continue this journey with Ben, our collaborators at Paramount Television Studios and the rest of the incredible cast to bring even more of James Patterson’s iconic world to our global Prime Video audience.”
Since its debut, Cross has demonstrated impressive viewership, garnering 40 million viewers worldwide within its first 20 days on the platform. The show ranked as the third-most-watched premiere on Prime Video in 2025, reaching the number one spot in over 100 countries. Additionally, it stood among the Top 10 of all original series during its Season 2 premiere week, according to Nielsen data.

As Season 2 concludes today, the plot follows billionaire business magnate Lance Durand (Matthew Lillard) as he seeks FBI protection after receiving a death threat linked to the murder of a billionaire playboy. Detective Alex Cross (Hodge) and FBI Agent Kayla Craig (Alona Tal) take charge of a joint mission to safeguard Durand while pursuing the elusive killer, who leaves behind ominous clues. Meanwhile, John Sampson (Isaiah Mustafa), Cross’ partner and longtime friend, forms an unexpected bond.
Alongside Hodge, Lillard, Mustafa, and Tal, the Season 2 cast features Jeanine Mason and Wes Chatham, along with Samantha Walkes, Juanita Jennings, Caleb Elijah, Melody Hurd, and Johnny Ray Gill.
Cross is produced by Amazon MGM Studios and Paramount Television Studios. The executive producers for Season 2 include Watkins, Craig Siebels, Patterson, Sam Ernst, Jim Dunn, Aiyana White, J. David Shanks, Owen Shiflett, Bill Robinson, and Patrick Santa, along with Hodge.
Season 3 is set to stream exclusively on Prime Video in over 240 countries and territories worldwide.
