Mason Sims Shines on Mound as Corona Secures Victory Over King
In a standout performance, junior left-hander Mason Sims took center stage during Monday’s Big VIII League game, leading Corona to a 3-0 victory over King. Sims struck out 12 batters without issuing any walks, allowing only four hits across six innings. Anakin Tolman stepped in to secure the save in the seventh inning. Having previously learned from minor league pitchers Ethan Schiefelbein and Seth Hernandez during his freshman and sophomore years, Sims is poised to spearhead the Panthers’ pitching staff for the next two seasons.
In another matchup, Norco defeated Corona Centennial 8-4, highlighted by Dylan Seward’s impressive triple and three RBIs. Centennial managed to gather nine hits against Norco’s ace, Landon Hovermale.
