Memorial Grows for Pregnant Mother Killed in Playa del Rey Bicycle Accident
A memorial is taking shape in Playa del Rey to honor a pregnant mother who tragically lost her life after being struck by a vehicle during a family bicycle outing over the weekend.
The incident occurred on Saturday evening when the victim, identified as 36-year-old Regan Cole, was riding with her husband and two young children. According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the collision was reported shortly after 6 p.m. at the intersection of Pershing Drive and Manchester Avenue.
Police confirmed that Cole was killed in the incident. Although her unborn baby was delivered, it, too, succumbed shortly after.
The driver, described as an elderly man, remained at the scene following the collision. Authorities indicated that there were no indications of drugs or alcohol contributing to the crash.
The circumstances surrounding whether the driver will face charges remain unclear as the investigation continues.
