Comedian Joe Dombrowski Shares His New Special ‘Dad On Arrival’
Joe Dombrowski’s New Comedy Special Set for Streaming Release
Joe Dombrowski’s much-anticipated second comedy special, Dad on Arrival, is slated for streaming via 800 Pound Gorilla on March 30, with a wider release on YouTube on April 14 at 7:00 PM CST.
The special reflects Dombrowski’s latest life chapter as a father to a three-month-old baby boy. In this hour-long performance, he humorously navigates the complexities of modern parenthood, sharing personal anecdotes about IVF and surrogacy, the realities of being a gay dad, and the unexpected experience of parenting his own aging parents.
Dombrowski’s latest work serves as a natural progression from his previous special, Don’t Eat the Crayons, which focused on his experiences as an elementary school teacher. Now distanced from the classroom, he has embraced the challenges of parenthood, which include late-night feedings and sleep deprivation.
Ryan Bitzer, co-founder of 800 Pound Gorilla, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, stating, “We’re huge fans of what Joe is building, and we’re incredibly excited to be partnering with him on this special. Joe has this rare ability to be playfully silly while weaving in honest, personal stories, and we can’t wait to share his new special with comedy fans everywhere.”
A Detroit native now residing in Seattle, Dombrowski initially gained popularity in 2017 following a viral April Fools’ Day spelling test prank, leading to several appearances on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. Although his teaching background contributed to his rise, Dombrowski’s passion for stand-up has been evident since he performed at his third-grade talent show.
Currently, Dombrowski tours internationally, sharing comedic insights on marriage, fatherhood, his whimsically humorous parents, and his formative years in education. He has been featured on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and has performed at notable events such as the Just For Laughs Festival in Montreal, Netflix Is a Joke Fest, and the New York Comedy Festival.
In addition to his stand-up career, Dombrowski co-hosts the live comedy game show My Straight Friends, held monthly at The Comedy Store in Los Angeles and the Emerald City Comedy Club in Seattle. He also collaborates with Gaspare Randazzo on the podcast Social Studies. Dombrowski is represented by CAA and Artists First.
