Colman Domingo Shares Thoughts on Paris Jackson’s View of the Michael Jackson Biopic: “I Hope She Comes to Appreciate the Tribute”
Colman Domingo Responds to Paris Jackson’s Criticism of Michael Jackson Biopic
Colman Domingo has addressed remarks from Paris Jackson regarding the upcoming biopic on her father, Michael Jackson. In a recent interview, Domingo expressed his hope that Jackson would appreciate the “tribute” crafted in honor of the late music legend.
“I hope that she eventually loves the tribute that we made about her father,” Domingo shared with WSJ Magazine.
Domingo plays Joe Jackson, Michael Jackson’s father, in the film titled Michael, directed by Antoine Fuqua. In September 2025, Paris Jackson took to social media to comment on Domingo’s previous statement in which he indicated that she had been “helpful” during the film’s production.
In a candid post on her Instagram Stories, she responded, “[Colman Domingo], don’t be telling people I was ‘helpful’ on the set of a movie I had 0% involvement in lol that is so weird.”
Paris Jackson elaborated in a follow-up post, stating, “I read one of the first drafts of the script and gave my notes about what was dishonest / didn’t sit right with me, and when they didn’t address it, I moved on with my life. Not my monkeys, not my circus. God bless and God speed.”
In a separate interview with People, Domingo noted that Paris Jackson and her siblings have shown support for the film. “I’m excited to be here at amfAR tonight with Paris. It feels like that’s a nice way for us to be together,” he remarked.
In her Instagram posts, Paris clarified her brief encounters with Domingo, mentioning they met only twice: once at a birthday party and again at the amfAR event, describing both interactions as “hella brief.”
The biopic Michael, produced by Lionsgate and Universal, is scheduled for release on April 24, 2026. The film will also feature actors Nia Long and Miles Teller.
