Colman Domingo Honors Inner City Boys in His Emotional ‘SNL’ Debut Speech
Colman Domingo made his hosting debut on Saturday Night Live this weekend, but his heartfelt curtain call was unexpectedly cut short during the live broadcast.
Though his speech was truncated on-air, the full version is now accessible online. Domingo dedicated the episode to “all the little boys in inner cities” and “all the little girls in small corners of Brazil,” in honor of musical guest Anitta.
“Tonight is for all the little boys in inner cities, all the little girls in small corners of Brazil,” he began. “Tonight is for the dreamers. Tonight is for the people who bring light into the world, especially Lorne Michaels and this beautiful cast. Thank you to the band.”
Domingo went on to express gratitude to the audience: “Thank you to everyone who came, to come together in a dark room and just laugh when we need more laughter in the world. This has been an epic night, and we want to send you away with a big old kiss and love, and to love on each other. Thank you so much to every single one of you in this building. Good night!”
