Exclusive: Chris Messina, Michael Peña, and Esai Morales to Star in Psychological Thriller "Tumor"
Los Angeles, CA – Acclaimed actors Chris Messina, Michael Peña, and Esai Morales are set to join Sam Rockwell and Maisy Stella in the upcoming psychological thriller Tumor, which has recently completed production in Los Angeles. This project was announced last year ahead of the American Film Market.
Directed by Will Bridges, Tumor marks his follow-up to the Apple sci-fi romance All of You, starring Brett Goldstein and Imogen Poots. The film follows a low-level private investigator, portrayed by Rockwell, who is tasked with locating the missing daughter of a wealthy businessman (Morales). As he navigates through the world of Los Angeles’s young elite, he struggles against late-stage brain tumor symptoms that threaten his grip on reality. The investigation spirals into a journey filled with blurred memories and dark secrets from his past.
Details concerning the roles of Messina and Peña remain undisclosed. Gigi Zumbado, known for her work on The Lincoln Lawyer, also features in a supporting role.
Production for Tumor is led by Daniela Taplin Lundberg under Stay Gold Features, alongside Christopher Leggett from Delirio Films. Executive producers include Aaron Ryder and Andrew Swett of Ryder Picture Co, Vanessa Mendal, Rafael Marmor, and Eddie Rubin. 1846 Studios is partnering in production, with MJ Anderson serving as an executive producer.
UTA Independent Film Group and WME Independent are co-representing U.S. sales, while AGC International is handling international rights. Legal and financial matters are managed by Hamish Berry and Eugene Pikulin of 3B Law.
Recently, Messina was cast in the next season of HBO’s The White Lotus and has the StudioCanal D-Day film Pressure set for release on May 29. He is represented by Entertainment 360, CAA, and Sloan, Offer, Weber & Dern.
Peña can be seen next in the Peacock series All Her Fault and has two Amazon MGM films, Judgment Day and Subversion, in the pipeline. He is represented by CAA, Entertainment 360, and attorney Rick Genow.
Morales, coming off roles in War Machine and Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, is represented by Innovative Artists and Feig Finkel. Zumbado is also represented by Innovative Artists and Artists First.
