### Chappell Roan Stuns with Temporary Tattoos at the 2026 Grammys
Chappell Roan captivated audiences at the 68th Grammy Awards by pairing her daring outfit with striking temporary tattoos. The 27-year-old singer, nominated for both Record of the Year and Pop Solo Performance, arrived in a sheer maroon Mugler gown that featured an invisible bodice highlighted by draping fabric and faux nipple adornments.
With her bold choice of attire, Roan’s intricate body art was impossible to overlook, drawing considerable attention. Her look was completed with faux tattoos designed by makeup artist Andrew Dahling in collaboration with MAC Cosmetics. The tattoos adorned both the front and back of her body, with a particularly notable lace design featured prominently on her back.
Dahling described the creative process for Roan’s look, explaining, “We started with this very archival, full, bare moment. Once the tattoos came into play, everything became very medieval, but in a real way. It’s still fantasy and something otherworldly, but grounded.” He noted that the ambitious makeup choices were intentionally subtle to maintain cohesion with the overall aesthetic of the gown.
“There’s so much going on — the tattoos, the prosthetic nipples, all of it — but overall we wanted everything to feel cohesive and really honor the dress and the medieval world we were living in,” Dahling added.
Roan’s striking gown flowed gracefully behind her, revealing black underwear underneath. For interviews on the red carpet, she draped a matching maroon cape over her appearance.
The design of her outfit was inspired by the spring/summer 1998 “Jeu de Paume” couture collection by Manfred Thierry Mugler, which was reimagined for the spring/summer 2026 collection by Miguel Castro Freitas.
Later in the ceremony, Roan changed into a beige draped gown to present the Best New Artist award, an honor she had received the previous year. This outfit featured a more delicate styling, replacing her temporary tattoos with a gold dangling necklace and an arm cuff.
In addition to her temporary tattoos, Roan also has permanent ink, sharing one of her latest tattoos with fans on Instagram last November.
Recently, she was recognized at the We Are Moving the Needle’s 2026 Resonator Awards, where she received the Harmonizer Award for her efforts to promote social change through her art. In her acceptance speech, she emphasized the importance of community and kindness, stating, “I think that the only thing that matters is community and kindness and giving what you have.”
The Grammy Awards were broadcast live from Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, featuring exciting performances and appearances from numerous artists.
